Yvonne Beattie moved from Southern California to Mariposa in 1987 with her husband Bob and two sons Alan and Russell. She always enjoyed making different crafts when growing up.

Yvonne started using polymer clay about 5 years ago. Joy McClure was her teacher and also was instrumental in getting her to join the Mariposa Gem and Mineral Club.

The club has taught her how to wire wrap and bead. About 4 years ago she started to attend Modesto Junior College, taking silversmithing classes and other aspects of jewelry making.

Last year at the Mariposa County Fair she won a first place blue ribbon for her sterling silver crocheted necklace.
Yvonne says "I love working with pearls and gem stones, there are so many exciting colors and patterns to choose from. You can just let your imagination go with all the different possibilities."

Yvonne also said "Making different types of jewelry is calming for me. I go into my own little world. As my husband reminds me " Do you know what time it is ?" ."
