Mariposa Unemployment Report For June 2006

 

The Mariposa unemployment rate matched the State of California for June, 2006 with a rate of 4.9%.
The United States unemployment rate was 4.8% for the month of June, 2006.
The Mariposa rate was down 4/10 of a percent from June of 2005 when the rate was at 5.3%.
8,880 people were employed in Mariposa County during the month of June 2006, while 460 people were out looking for work.
That is 30 less people that were looking for work this June than in June 2005.
Mariposa workers that were government employee's numbered 2,060  making up 8.4% of the work force.
2,240 workers were employed in the leisure and hospitality trades making up 17.9% of the work force.
That figure is actually up a little over 1% over last year. With the slide hampering businesses in Mariposa over all the workforce has actually grown compared to June of 2005.

Only 10 workers were reported as working at farm work in Mariposa County.
