SIERRA ART TRAILS HUGE SUCCESS
Sierra Art
Trails was once again a huge success in Mariposa County this year. Hundreds of visitors were enthralled with the artists,
who were actually working in their studios. It was amazing to see the outstanding talent and diversity of the artists in the
Sierra foothills. One artist had to deal with a little skirmish when two people wanted the same painting. She settled that and everyone in the group finally bought a painting. Another artist got several commissions for later, and the crowds of show guests flooded the downtown streets of Mariposa bringing up sales for the downtown merchants. Guests of the show came from as far away as Los Angeles and San Francisco and there were many people here from Fresno and Clovis. Yvonne Sarazin, shown here displayed her work at the
studio of Margot Wholey. Her work was beautiful and was a favorite of the more than one hundred visitors to the site. Her
work can now be seen at the Mariposa Gem & Mineral Store on 7th Street in Mariposa on Wednesdays from 10a.m. to
5p.m., or call for an appointment at : Another very popular artist of “The Trail” was Alinda Boyce-Franklin shown here with a wolf-doll that she had created for another function. The wolf-doll is wearing an original creation of Paula Walter, one of our very talented jewelry artists here in Mariposa. Alinda says, “The town was buzzing with excited energy, with dozens of people exploring the many downtown stores.” Both of their work can be seen at Dolls by Alinda on Main Street. After four years, Sierra Art Trails has established itself as a wonderful annual art event in our foothills communities. It has grown each year in its scope and size Next year the plans are to expand the show once again. This will stimulate business for our downtown area and will also give artists many new places to show their work. There are many volunteer opportunities for anyone interested
in being a part of this exciting art event. If you are interested in getting involved in this forward-moving annual event, you
can contact Art Trails by calling Louise Taylor or Sallie Dettra at 209-966-8363.
