Dennis Croucher of Cathey's Valley Elected 1st Vice-President of California Vietnam Veterans of America State Council
Former Army broadcast specialist and Catheys Valley resident Dennis ‘Doc’ Croucher, a member of Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) Chapter 368 in Mariposa since 2000 was elected 1st vice-president of the California VVA State Council in Fresno during the Convention held there in June.
Croucher served in the Army (1968-1971) in Ethiopia as a broadcaster with the Armed Forces Radio and Television Service. He has been a member of VVA since 1992 and served on the board of directors for CSC since 2008 as the Central District vice-president which includes Mariposa. He was recently elected president of VVA Chapter 368 where he has also served as vice-president, secretary/treasurer, and as a CSC delegate.
“I feel it is an honor to serve and help my brother veterans in their continued struggle for health and other benefits they earned with their service and sacrifices to their country,” said Croucher. He lives with his wife, Chelli of 28 years and they have four adult children and eight grandchildren. His wife is also on the board of directors of the California State Council for the Associates of Vietnam Veterans of America.
The California VVA State Council has a biennial convention each year, usually in Fresno. It is during this convention that officers are elected. Also elected was Steve Mackey of Riverside as President, Dick Southern of Tuolumne as 2nd Vice-President, Tom Hohmann also of Riverside as Secretary, Barry Schloffel of Sonora as Treasurer, Dean Gotham of Clearlake as Northern District Vice-President, Alan Cook of Castro Valley as Central District Vice-President, Michael Kennedy as Southern District Vice-President, and Ed Ryan, PhD also of Riverside as At-Large Vice-President.
