Jamie Ervin, organizer for the Sierra Forest Legacy, will be in Mariposa Thursday, October 12 to offer
a conservation perspective on the opportunities presented by the new forest plans and what citizens
can do to help assure future protection of the places and species they care about the most.

Besides news about defeating Congressman Tom McClintock, the next Mariposa Democratic Club
will host a Salon, with a guest moderator, on Saturday, October 14, 9:45 a.m.,
at the Miners Roadhouse at 5159 Hwy. 140 in Mariposa.


What is a Salon? According to Wikipedia, a Salon is a gathering of people under the roof of
an inspiring host, held partly to amuse one another and partly to refine the taste and
increase the knowledge of the participants through conversation...

You can help the shelter animals by donating items to the “forever” yard sale located at the shelter. 
For drop off, items must be in working condition, and clothes must be clean. 
Located at 5599 Highway 49 North just before the county recycling center. 
Every day, folks drop off really cool stuff and we offer them for sale at bargain prices. 
So, come by and shop till you drop!

Yosemite Renaissance is an annual exhibit that presents diverse artistic interpretations
of Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. This year, 65 works were selected from 846 entries.
The exhibit includes paintings, sculpture, textiles, photographs and
3-dimensional works by artists from across the country.
