More information about this event:
Trail Trials is a horseback ride over a marked trail, along which are found 8-10 obstacles to be completed. Each obstacle has an obstacle judge who watches each horse and rider complete the obstacle, and marks a scorecard. The ride takes about 3-4 hours to complete, depending on how many riders there are. Obstacles can be natural or man-made, such as backing on a prescribed course, sidestepping over to pick up an object, going up a steep hill, then dismounting and leading the horse back down, opening and closing a gate, etc.
Check-in is from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. There is camping available Friday and Saturday nights ($10 a night) at the ranch. Reservations must be made in advance by calling Vickie Kardell, 209-966-2080.
Location: Circle 9 Ranch, 6647 Jerseydale Rd., Mariposa CA 95338. (Rain cancels event)
Cost: Within the first three divisions are four categories: Adult rider ($40), Junior rider ($7.99), Schooling rider ($20) and Companion Rider ($20). Pre-registration is highly recommended.
There are five divisions: Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced, plus Schooling (judged but no awards) and Companion (no obstacles or awards).
If there are any more questions, please ask away. Thanks, Evie Wilson, 209-742-4261
Due to the illness and recent death of our Scavenger Hunt manager and past MMR President, Richard Theodore, there will not be a Scavenger Hunt on Sunday. Instead, riders can ride over the marked trail at their leisure.
