“Kim Weitkamp's performances are full of little surprises. When she begins, you'll laugh at her. Then, you'll laugh at her characters. Then you'll turn around and care about her characters and root for them. And then she'll sing, and its pure milk and honey." (Storyteller, Andy Offutt Irwin)

A master at building bridges from story to song, and song to story, Kim, returns to Mariposa for the Mariposa County Arts Council’s, 30th Mariposa Storytelling Festival’s Grand Finale Celebration, March   10 - 12. 2017. Events take place at the Mariposa County High School on Friday, March 10th and Saturday, March 11th.  Don’t miss our new SundayBrunch and Stories with the Tellers at the Mariposa Senior Center located at 5246 Spriggs Lane in Mariposa.

2017 Storytelling Festival adAs the redheaded child of exhausted parents, Kim was allowed to roam free in the heart of Amish Country, and her imagination was ripened by a life lived outdoors. Now she enjoys the role of being one of the most sought after storytellers and speakers in the country. Like all good storytellers, she evokes both laughter and tears, but her smooth silky voice, impeccable timing, and dead-on anticipation of her listeners’ needs place her at the pinnacle of her craft. She has taken home a full armload of awards and recognitions and her material is played regularly on NPR affiliate stations and on SiriusXM Radio.

Kim will also be presenting her workshop The Science of Story, a mixture of teaching and group coaching, for storytellers at all levels, writers, teachers, parents, and anyone who uses story in their life, on theevening of Monday, March 13, 2017, It will be from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., at the Parish Hall, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.  Storytelling Festival and Kim’s Workshop tickets may be purchased online at MariposaArtsCouncil.org or by calling the Mariposa County Arts Council at (209) 966-3155 or (800) 903-9936.
