There are 14 fire companies that serve the county. Our mission is: The preservation of human life, the protection of real and personal property, to provide basic life support, advanced First Aid, and patient care in emergency medical situations, to respond to calls for public service, to provide assistance in time of need.
Our volunteer members strive to practice this mission in their respective communities. Many have day jobs as well. The families of our volunteers are just as important to MCFD and we are grateful to them for giving of their time away from members while they serve.
The department also takes pride in education and prevention by using the Safety House. The Safety House is a trailer that visits schools, fairs and other community events to share with the youth and families about fire safety in the home. Participants learn how to create an escape plan, practice escaping a home fire, testing smoke alarms, fire safety in the home for cooking and heating and how to call 911 and report an emergency.
Our safety messages, shared by the Sierra Sun Times, the local paper, and social media is another way we use to reach people about seasonal fire safety tips in and around the home. If you have any safety concerns or questions, you are always welcome to contact the office at (209) 966-4330.
As always, we remind you to be safe and we look forward to serving you in 2017. Thank you again!
