SST LTRMay 14, 2018 - Do we want to unseat Tom McClintock, a career politician who has never even lived in our district, and whose values do not align with those of the vast majority of people - including conservatives - who do live here?  According to the Sacramento Bee Editorial Board - if beating McClintock in November is the goal, supporting Regina Bateson for Congress in the June 5th Primary is the best way to accomplish it!  In the endorsement, the Sac Bee says, "If Democrats are to retake the U.S. House this year, they have to flip seats like this one. Bateson would have the best chance in November." http://www.sacbee.com/opinion/editorials/article210648014.html  The Modesto Bee (http://www.modbee.com/opinion/editorials/article210660629.html), and the Merced Sun Star have also endorsed Regina Bateson for Congress.

Regina Bateson 300Credibility matters in this Congressional race!  Regina Bateson grew up in our District, attended public schools, and is raising her family here.  She knows we need a Congresswoman who will truly listen and stand up for what is right. Bateson's resume is ironclad and impressive; her integrity is unmatched.  A recognized authority on military affairs, she joined the State Department after 9/11, working to keep our country safe and later returning home to teach the next generation of leaders.

Regina Bateson will be the only member of Congress with firsthand experience on the frontlines of our immigration system. She led the Fraud Prevention Unit at the US Embassy in Guatemala City, has issued and denied over 10,000 visas, and understands the importance of enforcing immigration laws and maintaining a secure border. Bateson is a Spanish-English interpreter with over a decade of experience working with Spanish-speaking immigrants in the US. We need a fair immigration system, and Regina is uniquely qualified to get us there.  She will push to pass a clean DREAM Act and fight for comprehensive bipartisan immigration reform.

Bateson is a pragmatic problem-solver who cares deeply about issues that impact CA District 04. She believes it is unconscionable that the President and Congress are sabotaging health insurance markets, and knows climate change poses a grave threat to our district's natural beauty - from Kings Canyon National Park to Yosemite Valley to North Lake Tahoe - and our way of life here.  Regina sees small businesses as critical to our local economy; and knows we need smart housing solutions for local employees. She pledges to hold 10 Town Halls a year throughout the District, and started early when another Democratic candidate began backing out of scheduled debates. Regina held a Town Hall in Granite Bay on April 29th, and another one in Truckee on May 10th.  She will continue to travel the district and meet with people to listen and respond to their concerns.

After the Granite Bay Town Hall, Regina said, “I love answering hard questions. I’m all about transparency and accountability. Voters should demand nothing less of their candidates and elected officials.”  In fact, Bateson was motivated to run for Congress because she sees incumbent Rep. Tom McClintock as out of touch with the community.  She believes District 04 is full of good, decent people who desperately need representation in Washington DC.  She has the most grassroots support in the district; has taken no PAC money; and ranks 4th among ALL House Congressional candidates in donations from women. Bateson will work in Congress for our families, our communities, and our Country. Please support Regina Bateson in the June 5th Primary!
