July 4, 2018 - It is interesting to peruse the extensive opinions of Jay Johnson, regarding the Proposed Biomass Plant. They are OPINIONS! Recent statements provided by those of us strongly opposed to this unnecessary operation are not opinions but are in fact based on research and facts of Biomass Facilities.
If Biomass plants did in fact meet the opinion of Jay Johnson, why have most of them closed down?? If in fact Biomass energy were desirable and cost effective, why isn't PG&E building their own Biomass Facilities? If our senile Governor had not signed into law that PG&E is required to buy their power, there would no market available! When the conditional use permit was granted by the Planning Commission, the Chair commented, "This plant will only scratch the surface of the dead tree situation". It is surprising the Planning Commission "glossed over" those areas pertinent to the established businesses and residents adjacent to this proposed Biomass Plant that does not meet the requirements as stated in both the Planning Commission findings or in the County General Plan.
Again, all the statements made by Jay Johnson are in fact opinions! All claims given are on paper and are unproven. Water is a perfect example. Using 1.2 gallons per minute yet stating it has no adverse affect on all the adjacent wells, is by far unrealistic! We are not on an aquifer!
All other claims by Jay Johnson are again only opinions! All the information provided by this group of opportunists is in fact pure speculation. Cortus Energy of Sweden does not have a plant in operation anywhere in the WORLD to prove all the statements Jay Johnson has made.
We the residents of Mariposa County deserve better than another speculative unproven heavy industrial operation disrupting our established neighborhoods and businesses!
