October 17, 2017 - Tomas Evangelista and Doris Romero, founding members of California Dreamers, will be joined by Dreamer Kimberly Galindo to tell their stories, talk about DACA and immigration issues, and answer questions at the next Progressive Mariposa General Meeting.

The meeting will be held on Sunday, October 22, 2017 from 10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at the Miner’s Roadhouse 140, located at 5159 Hwy.140 in Mariposa.
MDC Tomas Evangelista.

Tomas Evangelista (pictured left) is a DACA recipient from Auburn, California. He came to the United States at the age of 2, and at 6 he moved to Northern California to live with his grandparents. Tomas ran Cross County and Track at Placer High School and attended American River College where he received an A.A. in Social Science. He received an Athletic Scholarship and attended California State University, Stanislaus. He completed his B.A. in Kinesiology in 2014 and is currently working for a non-profit organization called the Latino Leadership Council where he is the program manager of their Mental Health and Homeless Outreach program. Tomas is also the co-founder of California Dreamers, an organization that encourages Dreamers to speak out about their own personal stories to educate the community. He also creates community service events for Dreamers and supporters.
MDC Doris Romero


Doris Romero (pictured right) was born in El Salvador, she immigrated to the United States at the age of five and has lived in Auburn (Placer County) California since then. Doris is heavily involved in the community as well as in accomplishing her educational goals. She is currently studying Psychology and Sociology at Sierra College Community College and wishes to transfer to California State University, Sacramento. She is also Placer County's youngest Rotarian on the Board of Directors, a Placer County Youth Commissioner as well as Co-Founded a (soon to be) non-profit organization called California Dreamers. California Dreamers encourages immigrants to share their own personal stories and educate the community on issues involving immigration. Doris hopes to inspire other youth in creating the change they wish to see in their communities.
MDC Kimberly Galindo

Kimberly Galindo (pictured left) came to the United States from Mexico in 1996 and currently resides in Davis, California and while studying at UC Davis. She is the only person in her family without papers, but her father currently resides in Mexico and has been there since 2003. In spite of the challenge, she has risen to the occasion as an advocate for Dreamers. She implemented a resolution for supporting Dreamers in her local community college and for the Student Senate for Community Colleges. She is involved in the advocacy community in Apple Valley, and spent time as an intern for Congressman Cook's office. She hopes to become a lawyer one day.
