October 18, 2017 - Nearly 10,000 firefighters continue making progress on 13 large wildfires burning in the State that combined have burned over 210,000 acres. Cooler temperatures and increased humidity overnight have aided firefighters in their CalFireefforts. While many on the evacuation orders have been lifted in Northern California, over 22,000 people remain out of their homes due to the fires. The death toll increased to 42 late yesterday, after authorities located another victim of the Tubbs Fire in Sonoma County.

Weather conditions this week will continue to help in the containment progress. In fact, light rain in Northern California is forecast for Thursday night.

Residents returning home are urged to be cautious as hazardous conditions may remain. Learn more tips on how to return home after a wildfire at  www.fire.ca.gov.
