December 11, 2017 - When State Fair funding was eliminated, the Mariposa County Fairgrounds has been left with a $200,000 annual deficit. Through budget cuts and growth of facilities rentals the Fairgrounds management has made up about half of that deficit each year, and is making progress towards financial independence.

Since it's founding in 2011, the Friends of the Mariposa Fairgrounds Foundation has been able to bridge some of that gap by contributing over $175,000 – for infrastructure upgrades, repairs and technology advancements. Over $72,000 of that total was presented to the Mariposa County Fairgrounds by the Friends in 2017!  

This is all made possible through direct Community support, membership, donations, and income generated through the annual "Suds & Sausage Sampler", "Friends of the Fairgrounds Flea Market", as well as through sales at the Cowboy Beer Booth at several major events annually, including the Fair and the Untz Festival. 

This year, 2017, the funds made available through the Friends also provided a new and important source of on-going Fairgrounds ongoing income in the form of rental tent-cabins, which compliment the already successful RV and tent camping business.
