January 4, 2018 - Washington, DC -- Yesterday, in the face of not a single piece of evidence validating his thoroughly debunked claims that 2-3 million Americans voted illegally in the 2016 election, Donald Trump has dissolved his voting 
commission. As it has been heavily reported, there are numerous reports that have debunked this claim, and a study examining voting between 2000 and 2014 found only 31 credible instances of in-person voter fraud.
Trump did note that he is directing the Department of Homeland Security to “review these issues and determine next courses of action,” without providing any further details as to what this means.
In response, Sierra Club Democracy Program Director Courtney Hight released the following statement:
“Donald Trump continues to struggle with the facts, and neither he, nor Mike Pence or Kris Kobach could ever convince America of their lies. Trump’s delusional conspiracy theory is nothing more than an assault on American’s right to vote, and it was rightfully rejected by the people. We must continue to work to prevent Trump, Pence, and Kobach from using different avenues for their attack on our right to vote. If Trump were truly concerned with protecting America’s democracy, he’d be ensuring every eligible American has the right to vote and support the investigations into Russia’s attack on our elections.”
