May 14, 2018 - Progressive Mariposa are pleased to have three candidates for Mariposa County elected offices as our special guests at the next Progressive Mariposa General Meeting on Sunday, May 20, 2018.

Ed Johnson mariposa

The meeting will be held from 10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at Miner’s Roadhouse 140, located at 5159 Hwy. 140 in Mariposa.

Ed Johnson, candidate for Mariposa County Superior Court Judge, is a local attorney-mediator-hearing officer. He is a 24-year resident of Mariposa County and has served 10 years on the Mariposa County Economic Development Corporation, 10 years on the Mariposa Community Foundation, and 5 years as County Planning and Building Director. Ed co-founded the Foothills Community Mediation Center, offering free mediation services to Mariposa. Ed pledges to improve the Justice System for Mariposa citizens by introducing proven programs in mediation to resolve civil disputes faster and cheaper, and Restorative Justice to help victims heal and reduce crime, because it’s RESULTS that count.

Vince KehoeVince Kehoe, candidate for Mariposa County Assessor, has experience in real estate beginning more than 25 years ago and extended through real estate finance with Yosemite Bank. He is presently the owner of Kehoe and Associates Real Estate Appraisals. As a professional certified appraiser specializing in mountain property, he has appraised all types of property in every community in Mariposa County. His goal as Assessor-Recorder will be to ensure that tax assessments continue to be applied fairly for all property and business owners, and documents such as deeds, parcel maps and certificates of birth, marriage and death will continue to be recorded and maintained in a professional manner.

In addition to holding a current professional license as a State Certified Appraiser, Vince earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Dayton, a Master’s Degree in Geography from San Francisco State University, the Certified Commercial-Investment Member (CCIM) professional designation in commercial and investment real estate, and a Diploma in Banking and Finance from the American Institute of Banking.

Vince and his wife Lisa and have owned their home in Mariposa for nearly 30 years and raised their two daughters, Meghan and Kate, here. Over the years Vince has been involved in a variety of community groups and organizations: he has served as a coach for the Girls’ Softball League, board president for the Mariposa Marlins Swim Team, an active member of St. Joseph’s Church, board member of the Yosemite Association, member and president of Mariposa-Yosemite Rotary Club, a County Planning Commissioner, member of the County Assessment Appeals Board, board member of the Sierra Quest Human Services Foundation, Resource Conservation District board member, and a member of the Grand Jury.

Keith Williams mariposaKeith Williams, incumbent candidate for Mariposa County Treasurer/Tax Collector/County Clerk, has served as the Mariposa County Treasurer/Tax Collector/County Clerk since January 2007; prior to serving in this position, he served as the Assistant Treasurer – Tax Collector – County Clerk beginning in January 2003. He has worked for the County of Mariposa for 27 years starting in the Auditor’s Office.  Keith holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Saint Joseph’s College of Maine.
