May 24, 2018 - The UC Master Gardeners of Mariposa would like to thank all the gardening enthusiasts of our town for supporting two of our main events:  The 2018 Spring Plant & Art Sale and the Annual Garden Tour.  The proceeds from both events enable us to continue our community outreach programs such as public informational seminars with experts in the field, maintenance of the Creekside Garden and providing University-based answers to your gardening questions by phone or in person at our office.  We would like to give a special thank you to the agencies that manned their specific Information Booths at our plant sale:  Environmental Health for the Mosquito Fish, Fire Safe Council, Cal Fire, Blue Ridge, PG&E, Natural Resource Conservation Services, Mariposa County Resource Conservation Districts and the Landfill Mulch Program.  We also wish to thank Troy Foster of Ace Hardware for the loan of the red baskets for our shoppers’ convenience.

In addition, we are grateful for the families who allowed us to view their beautiful gardens on this year's Garden Tour:  Christine Oborn & Paul Brickett, Teresa Dostie-Sjostrom, Vivian & Jim White, Terry Johnson & Tery Susman, and Meibao Nee.  Visitors were treated to a wide variety Native and Mediterranean plants that can be easily maintained around a pool, iris and Maple trees that grow well in the foothills, local wildflowers to add color to your garden in the spring, and a complete presentation on how to have an organic garden from soil preparation to harvest. Thank you all for another successful and educational Garden Tour.  Thank you to the community of Mariposa for all your support.
