Homicide Suspect Identified
April 14, 2024 - Fresno Police Deppartment officials report on April 8, 2024, at 4:17 p.m., officers from the Southeast Policing District responded to the 1500 Block of North Ninth Street for a ShotSpotter activation. When officers arrived, they found 42-year-old Yong Vang suffering from a gunshot wound. Vang was rushed to CRMC but was pronounced deceased shortly after arriving.
Homicide detectives have identified 41-year-old Robert Phompong as the suspect responsible for the fatal shooting of Yong Vang. A warrant for murder has been issued for his arrest.
The Fresno Police Department’s Homicide Unit is seeking assistance from our community for any information leading to the arrest of Phompong.
