A Musical Evening for Young People in Mariposa (2015 Group picture)
Mariposa, California - On Friday, May 6th, 2016 the Cousin Jack Music Foundation invites you to join us for an evening of live music, workshops and activities for children. The Free Family Music Event will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Bootjack Stompers Hall on Highway 49. There will be live performances by local youth bands as well as opportunities for everyone to jam with other musicians. Bring your own instrument or use the ones we have for you to borrow.
Admission is free to the public and includes pizza from Pizza Factory in Mariposa.
The Cousin Jack Music Foundation was founded in 2003 by the Franklin family as a memorial to "Cousin" Jack Franklin. The mission of the Cousin Jack Music Foundation is to continue the work of Cousin Jack by "promoting passion for music in youth.”
The goals of the Cousin Jack Music Foundation include:
Organize community events and concerts
Partner with other arts related agencies and groups within Mariposa
Provide a no-cost musical instrument lending library for school music students
Collaborate with and provide financial aid to local schools to encourage the inclusion of music instruction on a regular basis to all students
