Hornitos Patrons Club Scholarship - Xianzhi Li, Jesse Hellums, Ashley Hartsog and Shaun Quinn

June 16, 2016 - Every year community organizations in Mariposa participate in awarding scholarships to the Mariposa County High School graduates.

The following are the Scholarships and the students who were awarded the scholarships.

D J Foster – Kayleigh Rider
Scholarship: David and Jean Foster Memorial Scholarship
Description: David and Jean Foster were teachers in Mariposa County for 20 years. They taught at Chowchilla Mountain, Mariposa Elementary, and Woodland Elementary. This scholarship will go to a person who desires to further their education in the teaching field. This scholarship is given by Myra Foster in David and Jean Foster’s memory.

Drama – Miranda Adams
Scholarship: Mariposa County High School Drama Club Scholarship
Description: The scholarship honors a MCHS graduating student who has been heavily involved in play productions and has a 3.0 GPA.

DSA – Camryn Dutrey
Scholarship: Mariposa County Deputy Sheriff's Association
Description:   Awarded to a student planning a career in any facet of public safety.

Democratic Club – Maya Canapary
Scholarship: Mariposa Democratic Club/Thomas Jefferson Scholarship
Description:  Awarded to graduating student who is pursuing a career that will serve their community and world at large.

E Clampus – Kaitly Thomas
Scholarship: E. Clampus Vitus Scholarship
Description:  this Scholarship is awarded to a graduating student who is interested in History and has a family member who is a Clamper.

Grizzly Band – Sierra Dearing and Milo Crespi
Scholarship: Mariposa Grizzly Band Boosters Dr. Phillip M. Smith Memorial Scholarship
Description: This scholarship was awarded to a MCHS senior who embodies Dr. Phil Smith’s talent, dedication, and contribution to music, and who has been an outstanding member of the Grizzly Band.

Arts Council – Kayleigh Rider
Scholarship: Mariposa Arts Council Award
Description: Awarded to a graduating student who has made a contribution to the school or our county in the arts – visual arts, media arts, or the performing arts.

Community Chorus – Sierra Dearing
Scholarship: Mariposa Community Chorus Scholarship
Description: Awarded to a high school student pursuing an interest in music.

Earl Jorgensen – Jesse Hellums and Alyssa Pierson
Scholarship: Mariposa County Schools Foundation / Earl Jorgensen Memorial Scholarship
Description: This scholarship was awarded to a graduating senior who in addition to regular academics and school participation, gave back to the community by volunteering locally.

Lodge 39 – Rachel Thompson
Scholarship: Mariposa Fellows Lodge #39 Scholarship
Description: This scholarship is awarded to a graduating student pursuing a career in the nursing field.

Masonic – Eliza Amstutz, Maya Canapary
Scholarship: Masonic Scholarship
Description: Awarded to a student enrolling in a university with the goal of obtaining a bachelors or higher degree. The winners demonstrate leadership, character and good morals.

T Jenkins Memorial – McKenna Pierson
Scholarship: Thomas A. Jenkins Memorial Scholarship
Description: This scholarship was awarded to a student pursuing a career in criminology or fire science.

Walt Palmer – Maikhue Her
Scholarship: Walt Palmer Memorial Scholarship
Description: Awarded to a graduating senior of MCHS who is a resident of Cathey’s Valley and who plans to continue education at a four-year college or university, a community college or vocational school.

Weston Memorial – Christian Avila
Scholarship: Don Weston Memorial Scholarship
Description: Awarded to a graduating senior planning to pursue a career in the field of Fire Science.

Yosemite Bank – Milo Crespi, Hope McCoy
Scholarship: Yosemite Bank Scholarship
Description: Awarded to one male and one female graduating student who is furthering their education in a post-secondary school.

Art Mimler – Lukas Hart
Scholarship: Art Mimler Scholarship
Description: Awarded to a graduating senior of MCHS who is a resident of Cathey’s Valley and who plans to continue education at a four-year college or university, a community college or vocational school.

Board of Realtors – Zackary Smith, Jessica Vegely, McKenna Marchetti snd Angela Trujillo
Scholarship: Mariposa County Board of Realtors
Description: All awards are given to students who plan to attend some form of educational institution following their senior year.

Malenfant – Jacob Williams
Scholarship: Joe Malenfant Memorial Foundation Scholarship
Description: Joe Malenfant was a mainstay for MCHS and very involved with the football program, both while he was in high school and as an adult. This year, a scholarship is being awarded to a graduating senior who has played football for MCHS and has at least a 2.5+ GPA.

Cattlemans – Robert Yockey
Scholarship: Merced-Mariposa Cattlemen’ Association Scholarship
Description: This scholarship was awarded to a student who is a resident of Merced or Mariposa Counties (or child of an active member of MMCA if living outside these counties); a graduating senior or enrolling college freshman planning a career/major in Agriculture; with a 2.5 GPA or higher.

JC Fremont – Healther Oldfield
Scholarship: JC Fremont Hospital Foundation Scholarship
Description: this scholarship was awarded to a graduating student who is entering post-secondary education pursuing a health related career.

Silver Bar – Milo Crespi
Scholarship: Silver Bar Studio Environmental Design Scholarship
Description: Awarded to a graduating senior who exhibits artistic talent through creative writing, original images or construction pieces relating to the following disciplines: Architecture, Art, Landscape Architecture, or Regional/Urban Planning.

Am Aux – Hope McCoy
Scholarship: American Legion Auxiliary Scholarship
Description: Awarded to a senior female who is planning on a service career (a career serving other people) who also has a family member who was in the armed services.

Hornitos 4-H - Ashley Hartsog
Scholarship: Hornitos 4-H Club Scholarship in memory of Linda Brower
Description: Awarded to a graduating MCHS senior who is enrolling in a full-time undergraduate course of study in law enforcement at an accredited two or four-year college or university or vocational-technical school in the United States.

Hornitos Patrons – Jesse Hellums, Xianzhi Li and Ashley Hartsog
Scholarship: Hornitos Patrons Club Scholarship
Description: This scholarship was awarded to a graduating senior who demonstrated leadership in the community.
