August 26, 2016 - Our mission statement at the California Department of Education includes the statement that together, as a team, we prepare students to live, work, and thrive in a multicultural, multilingual, and highly connected world. Career education and guidance is an important element of every school’s curriculum. We strive to assist students in making decisions which support their successful transition from school to further education or work.The California Firefighter Joint Apprenticeship Committee is holding a series of Firefighter Career Expos. These expos are designed to introduce students to a career in firefighting through activities, simulations, and displays. Middle and high school students who are interested in pursuing a career in this field are encouraged to attend. Families are also welcome to attend the expo and barbeque. All events are free and will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the following dates and locations:
