September 28, 2016 - A fire on Triangle Road was first reported at 1:25 P.M. Tuesday, September 27, 2016 with a call to Mariposa County Dispatch. "The fire burned 1.1 acres, and the cause was a catalytic converter from a motor vehicle that had failed and caught the roadside grass and vegetation on fire," said Doug Binnewies, Sheriff-Coroner Mariposa County. "The fire response was robust and quickly contained the fire. It was in a bad spot and I'm thankful for the CAL FIRE and Mariposa County Fire joint response. We are also thankful for the quick report which assisted the fast response which was able to limit this fire to a small area. It could have been very serious as it is a populated area. Thank you to all that quickly responded to get a handle on this roadside fire."
UPDATE: 5:54 P.M. Triangle Rd.Fire contained, Triangle Rd is open, please drive with caution as fire crews remain in the area.
UPDATE: 2:45 PM - Releasing Sheriff units from the scene. Fire personnel remain on scene. Triangle Rd is still closed between East Westfall and Tip Top Rd.
2:19 P.M. Per: Mariposa County Sheriff: FIRE: Triangle Rd. Fire personnel on scene, Triangle Rd closed between E. Westfall and TipTop. No Evacuations ordered.
