January 19, 2017 - North Fork, California - The Sierra National Forest (NF) Bass Lake Ranger District office and several residential areas in North Fork affected by the mandatory evacuation order, which led to a decision by District Ranger Denise Tolmie and Forest Supervisor Dean Gould to take proactive steps and temporarily close the offices in North Fork for employee and public safety until the threat and danger of flooding passed, has now been lifted by the Madera County Sheriff’s Office.

Based on this status update, normal operations at the Bass Lake Ranger District have resumed.

With the ground already saturated and lingering snow, road travel could still be very difficult, as the potential for additional flooding, mud and rock slides, washouts, and falling trees exists. Avoid driving through unknown depths of water. You should monitor weather forecasts as conditions can change and be alert for all weather warnings and be prepared to take action.

For information regarding the Sierra NF, and recreational activities please contact the High Sierra Ranger District office in Prather, CA. at 559-855-5355, the Bass Lake Ranger District office in North Fork, CA at 559-877-2218, or the Forest Supervisor’s office in Clovis, CA. at 559-297-0706.
