Recent activities in Congress, relating to federal extensions of Unemployment Insurance (UI) benefits, indicate there is discussion to continue extensions past the current filing deadlines. However, they have not been discussing adding any additional weeks of benefits to increase the maximum of up to 99 weeks of benefits that are available now.

Big Oak Flat Road In Yosemite National Park To Close For Rockslide Repairs
Approximate Six Week Closure Needed to Rebuild Damaged Section of Road. Yosemite National Park announces that the Big Oak Flat Road (Highway 120) within the park will close at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 29, 2012, for the park to repair damage to the road caused by a large rockslide on January 22, 2012. The closure, in effect 24 hours per day, seven days per week, is expected to last until early April. Crews will be working around the clock which necessitates a “hard-closure.”...

The board heard Worst Case Scenarios. There is roughly a $2,500,000 deficit for next year and it looks like 36 people will get layoff notices. These Notices go out on March 15, but the final notices go out on May 15. The Worst Case Scenarios have the Middle School, the Spring Hill Campus, Coulterville High School and Yosemite Park High School closing. All the ideas that were presented to the board are just suggestions.
