Washington, D.C. - Representative Denham visited the Department of Veteran Affairs Community Outpatient Clinic in Oakhurst today. Rep Denham was able to experience firsthand how the telehealth program and healthcare services are implemented at the Oakhurst facility for Veterans in the Central Sierra Nevada Mountain communities. Combining health informatics, disease management and telehealth technologies, VA health care facilities have been able to target care and case management in order to better facilitate access to care and improve the health of veterans.
Rep. Denham, a veteran himself, understands the sacrifice our service members make every day and the importance of these facilities. This facility, recently opened in March, makes it easier for Veterans to access the quality care they deserve.
“Improving and expanding on the care provided to our veterans is a top priority of mine. Our service men and women risk their lives every day to protect our country. We have a duty to honor their service by ensuring they are able to access medical care and providing them with the quality care they deserve,” said Rep. Denham. “I witnessed firsthand today the value of facilities like the Oakhurst outpatient clinic, which makes access to health care easier for Veterans of the Oakhurst and Mariposa communities.”
As a member of the Veterans Affairs Committee and Health Subcommittee, Rep. Denham has been working hard in Washington to improve the quality of care that service men and women are receiving as well as ensuring that Veterans are aware of the care available to them.
