Backyard Beekeeping In Mariposa

The Sierra Foothill Beekeepers Association invites local beekeepers, wannabees, newbees, and anyone else interested in beekeeping to its “Get Started in Backyard Beekeeping” seminar.  Participants will learn from local hobbyists about basic beekeeping equipment, start-up costs, acquiring local bees, mentoring/hive hosting opportunities, recommended reading, and more.  Subsequent meetings and/or seminars will cover swarming behavior and rescue, hive observation, and hive management.  This free seminar will be held at the Mariposa County Library on Monday, February 20^th at 7:00 p.m.

The Sierra Foothill Beekeepers Association was started 2010 to serve hobbyist beekeepers in Mariposa, Tuolumne, Calaveras and Amador Counties of Central California.  The Association encourages sustainable, treatment-free beekeeping practices and promotes beekeeping with local genetic stock.  The Association provides education in the form of classes, mentoring and educational outreach.
