Mariposa County Chamber Brings All Five State Assembly Candidates To Mariposa County

So far, five candidates have submitted their papers to run for State Assembly in the newly formed District 5 for California. District Five runs the length of the Sierras from Madera County up to South Lake Tahoe. Most of the candidates are from the northern part of the district and only one candidate from the southern end. The Mariposa County Chamber of Commerce felt it important that our community get to know these candidates and that they get to know Mariposa our businesses, our residents and our issues. Our needs and concerns are very important. We need to be heard and well represented in Sacramento. This will be our first and perhaps our only opportunity to be heard before the Primary in June. 

The Chamber is thrilled that all five candidates are available and have committed to being in Mariposa County on Thursday, February 23^rd from 7 – 9 pm at the Senior Center in the township of Mariposa. This is quite an accomplishment. We are not sure how many times it will be possible to get all of the State Assembly Candidates under one roof, but we are pleased that one of the first times (if not the very first time) will be here in the Mother of all Counties, Mariposa.

The Meet the Candidates Night will be informal, and allow for the candidates to introduce themselves and express their platforms. There will be adequate time for public Q&A followed by one on one time to personally meet the individual candidates.

Frank Bigelow, Republican, from Madera County

Marc Boyd, Democrat, from Arnold

Tim Fitzgerald, Democrat, from Soulsbyville

Rico Oller, Republican, from San Andreas
