0:00 Supervisor Cann mentions this has been a long six month process. The county lease continues until January 2015. The park wanted a facility on the 140 corridor. Mr. Cann mentions that tourism sustains the county. Mr. Cann said he sees no future negative impacts on non-tourism businesses. He imagines the impact on the coffee shops and restaurants. He said there is a higher need in the Park for the office space that will be vacated. There will be forty five permanent employees and ten "stop over spaces".
4:10 Mr. Cann mentions that some people say that he is a cheerleader for the Park. He feels he is a cheerleader for Poverty Reduction and Smart Growth in Mariposa.
4:55 On the lease Mr. Cann mentions that this a yearly lease through 2015 and it is a sublease as it was easier. By doing this they bypass the General Services Administration.
There are still technical corrections to take care of. Mr. Cann mentions that the number of $55,642 is a not to exceed number in improvements to the building. (The lease mentions paint and carpets.) This is a pass through number.
8:50 Supervisor Stetson mentions that this will be a welcome shot to our economy and our culture. He said there will be fifty people everyday seeking lunch in Mariposa and the resettling of the people in the county and that this will give the Park Service a larger sense of their place here.
