MCHS Drama and Chorus Present: School House Rock LIVE!
The Emmy Award-winning 1970s Saturday morning cartoon series that taught history, grammar, math, science and politics through clever, tuneful songs will soon be instructing a whole new generation to “Unpack Your Adjectives” and “Do The Circulation,” as it lights up the Jon Turner stage in the Richard D. Fiester auditorium on the MCHS Campus.
Tom, a nerve-wracked school teacher worried about his first day of teaching, tries to relax by watching TV when various characters representing facets of his personality emerge from the set and show him how to win his students over with imagination and music, through such beloved Schoolhouse Rock songs as “Just A Bill,” “Interplanet Janet” and “Conjunction Junction.” With its full orchestration, over the top sets, costumes, and props, audience interactions, and special effects (including confetti guns!), this show is sure to entertain a cross-generational audience. Children just discovering the TV series to “Generation X-ers” seeking a taste of nostalgia will delight in this sure-fire entertainment that’s simply good, clean – and educational – fun.
The show will be performed in the Richard D. Fiester Auditorium on the MCHS campus on Friday, February 24th and Saturday, February 25th at 7 p.m. with a matinee showing on Sunday, February 26th at 2 p.m. Tickets are $9 general admission, $7 for all children, students, and seniors.
