Letter to the Editor - Coulterville Transfer Station. What's going on?

Coulterville Transfer Station. What's going on? Today, wife and I loaded up our one contractors bag full of trash and six bags of recyclable trash and some cardboard and headed off to our local Coulterville Transfer Station. We pulled up and parked alongside the six or so completely empty recycle bins and I paid the "new" attendant $5 for the one bag of trash and got my receipt....Robert, the regular attendant of many years was conspicuously missing. The attendant politely advised us that we should not use the recycle bins any longer....everything (except cardboard) now goes into the one large trash container and when it gets to the landfill, it then gets sorted out.

That's amazing! Just think, they're going to individually go through thousands of plastic trash bags, open each one and determine which have real "trash" and which ones have recyclable goods rather than use segregated trash and recycle bins. Doesn't sound to me like a very well thought out plan but, I guess the experts figured out this must be the best way to go! Anyone got an explanation?
