Letter to the Editor - Small Town Life At It's Finest

All in a week~
We all know there is good and bad about every place, big city and small town, alike. Nothing is black and white but rather a million shades of grey...... Last week I saw something in this town that disappointed me and this week I saw the generous side of our community. My mother in law locked herself out of her house in Ponderosa Basin, at about 5pm. I didn't get the message until 6pm and then couldn't get ahold of her for over an hour. When I did she asked me to call a locksmith as she was shaken and not confident with her communication skills. She had left a message at Coast Hardware but Heidi wasn't in. I called the 3 locksmiths listed in the book, all out of Oakhurst. One had no message machine, one was disconnected and the third one, Joe's Lock and Key, said he didn't do night calls, sorry. I tried the Loc Doc number, knowing a message had already been left for Heidi at Coast. She answered the phone and then told me she had closed her business. I told her I had no idea and before I could say anything else she asked where my mother in law was located. I told her I never would have called if I'd known she wasn't doing this anymore as I could tell she was going to help us out. The night ended with my mother in law getting back in her house about 9pm, finally, to feed the hungry cats and dogs and get herself to bed after a long, long day.

Heidi went out of her way to help us and I greatly appreciate it.
Small town life at it's finest, thank you Heidi~
