Letter to the Editor - Take Care of Your Pets

This morning my business neighbor, Tess Vick, who owns and operates Grooming By Tess, called my office to let me know of a tragedy that has become all too common. Someone disposed of their beloved cat by allowing it to FREEZE TO DEATH. Some coward of a pet owner placed their 20 year old cat in a carrier with $20 and a note that said they could no longer care for their pet and that Tess was an animal lover who would likely care for this cat or find it a home. Tess found the carrier and the note AND the dead cat outside her business this morning...it was in the 20's last night!

This act of stupidity and cowardice is beyond understanding. I want people to know that if they can not take care of their pet any longer that they have humane options and one of those is euthanasia. How long did they think the cat would last? She was already emaciated and sick when they dumped her. The litter of puppies dumped out at the SPCA shelter was likely from the same caliber of human being. This community should know about these events so that we are aware that the animals they take home and claim as their own are a living creature that becomes dependent on us for their survival and if the animal can no longer be cared for then ask around for help, look into rescue organizations, shelters, and if no other options seem available, then HUMANE euthanasia is a viable option.
