Yosemite National Park located in California,
U.S.A. Compromising almost 750,000 acres, was established in 1890. 94 percent is designated wilderness, with 800 miles of
trails. El CAPITAN, (on the left side) pictured hear rises more than3500 feet into the sky from the valley floor which is
at an elevation of 4,400 feet. In the summer months with the aid of binoculars a person can watch the climbers on the
mountain, wondering how they can climb almost straight up. Yosemite is also home to the Grizzly Giant, an 1,800 year old
Sequoia tree, located in the Mariposa Grove on the south end of the park. In the high country at an elevation of 8,600 feet is
Tuolumne Meadows the largest sub alpine meadow in the Sierra Nevada mountain range. Back down into the valley there are many
waterfalls that are spectacular in the spring and early summer. Yosemite Falls has a drop of 2.425 feet.
The seasons in
Yosemite are dramatic with the spring flowers and flowing falls, the summer with the opening of the high country, the fall
with the changing of the weather, chilling the leaves and changing their colors, and finally winter with snow draping over all
things making the valley quiet as it prepares for another year. Come and see for yourself. This year promise yourself a
trip to Yosemite. |
