Dennis Bright, 71, who lost his home of 44 years on Yaqui Gulch Road in the 2017 Detwiler Fire,
is the subject of a short film that will be shown as part of the Big Tell Film Showcase at the
Tower Theatre in Fresno on Friday, October 19 at 7:00 p.m.

A proposal submitted by Mariposa resident Karen Dusek, was one of 10 selected by
the Central Valley Community Foundation as winners in this year’s Big Tell film contest.
Titled “Just Stuff,” the 5-minute film chronicles the destruction of Bright’s property
and his on-going efforts to start anew...


Our first-of-the-year Kabbalat Shabbat Service will take place on the evening of 
Friday, October 19 at 5:30 p.m. at a private home in Murphys. We will begin with a
'dairy/vegetarian/parve' potluck dinner followed by a service around 7:00 p.m. 

On Sunday, October 21, we will host our first Jewish Learning Workshop, led by
Rabbi Andra Greenwald, in which we will explore facets of our evening and morning prayers. 
First of a series of three such classes, the other two to take place in November and February...
