Regardless of our means or opportunity, education is the bridge to the future for all students.

Judy Eppler October 6, 2018 - I have served MCUSD for over forty years, including seven years on the Board of Education.  During that time I have worn many hats including a high school teacher, counselor, middle school principal, and Assistant Superintendent for curriculum.

There are many unresolved and pending issues on the table at MCUSD right now from how Bond dollars will be spent; reducing overcrowding at Mariposa Elementary School and Woodland Elementary School; to the utilization of the Middle School.

I feel I owe it to the District –and to you, the MCUSD community- to help my fellow board members and the MCUSD team finish these issues.  With my long history in education and seven years as your District 3 School Board representative, I have the background information, knowledge, and skills to help resolve pending items and those that come up in the future.

Many of our resources that come from Sacramento come with complicated restrictions and restraints.  My current consulting work with Fresno County Office of Education gives me ample opportunity to stay up to date on facilities, teacher credentialing, and state regulations.  I work with the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP), which governs how districts and parents spend educational monies.  In these capacities, I am able to stay current on the revolving guidelines and procedures from Sacramento on matters including safety, extracurricular activities and special needs programs.

I have worn an additional hat that many of you wear as well, MCUSD parent.  This is the most important hat any of us will wear because parents have the best pulse on their child’s needs.  Parents should have a strong voice in student education.  I will listen to those voices.
