January 14, 2026 – San Diego Police Department officials report that they are committed to being open and transparent with the public.

The following is a critical incident video regarding an officer-involved shooting that took place on December 16th, 2025, at 2900 Balboa Drive, San Diego.

The suspect was identified as 54‑year‑old Allen Baker, a resident of San Diego. Baker was charged with Attempted Murder of a Peace Officer, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and Assault on a Peace Officer with a Semiautomatic Firearm. These charges include a 20‑year prison enhancement.

Homicide investigators have also confirmed that Mr. Baker has two extraditable out‑of‑state felony warrants, both related to narcotics offenses.

The officer who discharged his weapon was identified as Kellan Taeatafa-De La Rosa. Officer Taeatafa-De La Rosa has been with the San Diego Police Department for approximately five years and is currently assigned to patrol at the Central Division.
