Protecting Children Through Collaboration

January 29, 2026 – Yuba City Police Department officials report that they assisted in a federal Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Yuba PD newsinvestigation that resulted in a 15-year federal prison sentence for Thomas Davis, 40, of Yuba City, for receipt of child sexual abuse material.

The case originated from an ICAC operation led by the Sacramento Valley Hi-Tech Task Force and was forwarded to the Yuba City Police Department Investigations Unit for follow-up. Investigators determined Davis used peer-to-peer file-sharing technology to obtain a large volume of illegal material involving the sexual exploitation of children.

On January 9, 2026, Davis was sentenced in federal court to 180 months in prison, followed by 10 years of supervised release. The case was prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of California.
