Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest
January 30, 2026 – Yuba City, CA – Sutter County Sheriff's Office officials report that on Wednesday night, January 28, 2026, Sutter County deputies initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of La Grande and Mariposa for a missing front license plate.
Once contact was made with the vehicle’s occupants, deputies developed reasonable suspicion that narcotics may be present inside the vehicle. K-9 Hitch and his handler responded and conducted an exterior sniff of the vehicle. K-9 Hitch positively alerted to the presence of a controlled substance in the vehicle.
During the investigation, deputies determined the driver was operating the vehicle with a suspended license and was required to have an ignition interlock device installed, which was not present. The driver was taken into custody.
Deputies then conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle and located approximately 38 grams of suspected methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, a digital scale, and additional items consistent with narcotics sales.
A records check revealed the driver had prior related convictions. The driver was arrested and booked into the Sutter County Jail on multiple charges related to narcotics possession for sale, transportation of a controlled substance, driving on a suspended license, and violations related to ignition interlock device requirements.
Great Job B-Night's deputies, dispatchers and K-9 Hitch!
