Stabbing Arrest in San Marcos 

March 6, 2026 – San Diego County Sheriff's Office officials report that on Friday, December 19, 2025, just after 4:00 San Diego SO logop.m., a man was walking along the 200 block of Smilax Road in San Marcos when a gray sedan stopped alongside him. The vehicle contained four unknown Hispanic men. The occupants confronted the man regarding his possible gang affiliation. The men ran toward a nearby apartment complex. As the man ran off, three men exited the vehicle and chased him on foot.

The man stated an unknown Hispanic man stabbed him twice. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries to his back and left elbow. He later contacted deputies from the San Marcos Sheriff's Station at the scene and was transported to a hospital for treatment.

After the stabbing occurred, the suspect vehicle fled the area.

Using vehicle descriptors from Safe Streets camera footage, detectives from the Sheriff's Narcotics and Gangs Division utilized license plate reader technology was utilized to identify the suspect vehicle.

As a result of this and a thorough investigation by Sheriff's Detectives, the stabbing suspect was identified.

On Tuesday, February 17, 2026, Yael Galicia (18) was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and promoting/assisting a criminal street gang. He was booked into the Vista Detention Facility.
