Assault with Deadly Weapon Arrest
April 30, 2026 – San Diego County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on April 18, 2026, at approximately
11:08 P.M. (2308 hours), hospital staff notified San Diego County Sheriff's dispatch that an adult male had arrived at their emergency department with stab wounds and was initially unconscious.
It was reported that the incident occurred in the 7300 block of Broadway in Lemon Grove. Deputies from the Lemon Grove Substation responded to the location, secured the scene, and conducted a preliminary investigation. Evidence was collected, including available CCTV footage, witness statements, and scene photographs. Through the course of their investigation, Sheriff's investigators identified 34‑year‑old Paul Mackeins Sanchez as the suspect. Sanchez was not at the scene when deputies arrived.
The victim was treated by hospital staff for multiple lacerations to his body and was in stable condition and later released from the hospital.
On April 28, 2026, Sanchez was taken into custody and booked into San Diego Central Jail on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon, in violation of 245(a)(1) of the California Penal Code. The investigation remains ongoing.
