Homicide Investigation 

May 21, 2026 – Salton City, CA – Imperial County Sheriff's Office officials report that on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at approximately 7:42 A.M. (0742 hours), the Imperial County Sheriff's Office Dispatch Center received a phone call from a citizen who stated he possibly located a deceased body. Sheriff's Deputies were immediately dispatched to the area of Plaza Avenue and Panorama Avenue in Salton City, California and contacted the reporting person.

Responding Deputies located and identified a deceased individual at that location and noted the scene to be suspicious in nature. After securing the scene, the on-scene deputies notified the Imperial County Sheriff's Office Investigations unit, the Imperial County Sheriff's Office Scientific Investigations Unit and the Imperial County Sheriff's Office Coroner's Unit to respond and take over the investigation.

Throughout the investigation the decedent was identified as Pedro Montes Jr. a 34-year-old male out of Salton City, California. The next of kin for Pedro Montes Jr. have been notified through the Imperial County Sheriff's Office Coroner's Unit. This is an active and ongoing investigation, and no further details will be released at this time to ensure the integrity of the case.
