June 24, 2026 – San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office officials report that they arrested a man in possession of child sexual abuse material.

On June 10, 2026, the Sheriff's Office Detective Division served a search warrant at a home in the 400 block of Leighton Street, in Cambria. This search warrant was related to an ongoing investigation for possession of suspected Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM). The investigation began in April 2026 when the Sheriff's Office and San Luis Obispo Police Department received multiple tips regarding the possession of CSAM.

The suspect in this investigation has been identified as 45-year-old Roberto MercadoLeonardo of Cambria. MercadoLeonardo was arrested for charges related to the possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) of more than 600 images. MercadoLeonardo has since been released from San Luis Obispo County Jail on posted bail.
