Stabbing InvestigationÂ
July 10, 2026 – Monterey Police Department officials report that on July 2, 2026, at approximately
9:32 p.m., Monterey Police Officers were dispatched to the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula (CHOMP) in response to a report of a victim who had arrived at the hospital with stab wounds. The victim was transferred to the Natividad Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
The victim reported that earlier in the evening, he was walking in the 2300 block of North Fremont when an unknown male confronted him. The victim stated the male assaulted him with a pocketknife for no apparent reason. The victim described the suspect as a Hispanic male wearing a red jacket. Initially, the victim did not realize he had been stabbed and left the area. After discovering his injuries, a family member transported the victim to the hospital for treatment.
MPD officers and detectives conducted an extensive investigation into this incident, including canvassing the North Fremont area for a crime scene, speaking with numerous witnesses, and collecting video evidence. Currently, the identity of the male suspect remains unknown.
