Scammers are Getting Smarter!
August 17, 2026 – Sacramento County Sheriff's Office officials report that recently they received an increase in reports of individuals being contacted by scammers posing as sheriff's office employees. These impersonators are attempting to gather personal information or intimidate victims into sending money.
The scammers frequently use real names and titles from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office and may threaten individuals with warrants if payments are not made. It's important to exercise caution, as these fraudulent calls may display a caller ID that appears to be from the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office, or come from a "NO CALLER ID".
If you receive a call like this:
**STOP** and **DO NOT** share any personal information.**
**Hang up and contact the non-emergency line at 916-874-5115 right away.**
