Crime Stoppers: Death Investigation in North County
August 21, 2026 – San Diego County Sheriff’s Office officials report that San Diego County Crime Stoppers and the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Division are asking for the public’s help in determining the circumstances surrounding the death of 56-year-old Jorge Soares.
Sheriff’s Detectives determined Soares was living in Escondido in 2024. He also frequented San Bernardino County, including the Victorville and Hesperia areas.
Soares was reported missing by his family on January 13, 2025. Soares was later discovered deceased in the North County area of San Diego County.
At this time, the circumstances surrounding Soares’ death are unknown.
Detectives are asking the public for any information to assist with their investigation.
Soares was 5'9" tall and weighed 175 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. Soares was last known to have a shaved head and goatee. Soares had tattoos on both arms and went by the nickname “Stone."
