Sexual Assault in Vista 

August 21, 2026 – San Diego County Sheriff’s Office officials report that they are seeking the public's help in identifying a sexual assault suspect from a crime in Vista.

On August 19, around 9:40 p.m., a 29-year-old female was walking to her vehicle in the 2100 block of E Vista Way, in Vista.  A stranger ran up behind her and sexually assaulted her. The victim fought back, eventually escaping.

The suspect, who is believed to be a stranger, was described as a 20-year-old unknown race male, about 5'2", 130 pounds, wearing all black clothing and black ski mask.  There are no other known physical identifiers for the suspect.

Detectives responded to the scene and canvassed the area, seeking additional witnesses and evidence.  The Sheriff's Office is asking for help from the public in identifying and locating the suspect.  Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff's Sexual Assault Unit at 858-285-6112 / after hours at 858-868-3200.
