Food Truck Theft Investigation in El Rio
September 9, 2026 – Ventura County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on September 5, 2026, Ventura County Sheriff’s deputies assigned to the Headquarters Patrol Station responded to the 2500 block of Cortez Street in the unincorporated El Rio area of Oxnard for a reported theft.
Deputies learned that two generators had been stolen from a local food truck business that has become a staple in the food truck community. Deputies also determined that another nearby food truck had been entered, and cash was stolen.
The thefts occurred at approximately 4:40 a.m. Surveillance video, obtained with the assistance of other food truck vendors, captured the suspect.
Suspect description:
- Hispanic male
- New York Mets baseball cap
- Black and gray surgical mask
- Black T-shirt with a white undershirt
- Blue jeans
- Sneakers
Investigators are asking anyone who may recognize the suspect or have additional surveillance footage from the area around the time of the thefts to contact the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.
