Homicide on Howe Avenue 

September 9, 2026 – Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office officials report that deputies responded near the Panera on Howe Avenue where several witnesses reported a shooting. Deputies arrived on scene and located a female victim, who was later pronounced deceased at the scene.

After learning of the suspect vehicle description from witnesses on scene, the vehicle was entered into the FLOCK system. Almost instantly, Deputies learned of its last location through the FLOCK system, and Deputies assigned to Regional Transit located it near Highway 50 and Watt Avenue just minutes later. As they attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver immediately slammed on his brakes, and the vehicle came to a stop. Deputies attempted to call out the driver for some time but ultimately discovered the driver (an adult male) was deceased from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Preliminary information shows that the male chased down the victim, then shot and executed her in front of several witnesses. The investigation is in its early stages and information is still evolving.
