Kidnapping and Assault Arrest 

September 16, 2026 – Monterey Police Department officials report that on September 13, 2026, at approximately 1:30 a.m., Monterey Police Department (MPD) officers responded to the Skyline Crest neighborhood following a report of a woman being held against her will inside her residence.

Upon arrival, officers located the suspect, 41-year-old Mychael Henderson, outside the residence and detained him without incident. The victim was located with non-life-threatening injuries and received medical evaluation at the scene.

Investigators determined that Henderson and the victim are known to each other, and that Henderson had recently expressed unreciprocated romantic interest in the victim. On the evening of September 12, 2026, at approximately 9:30 p.m., the victim arrived at her residence and was confronted by Henderson, who had been waiting for her. Henderson battered the victim, forced his way inside, and took her phone.

Henderson held the victim against her will for several hours and threatened to sexually assault her; however, no sexual assault occurred. The victim ultimately convinced Henderson to allow her to contact a friend, who subsequently alerted law enforcement. During the arrest, officers located a bag in Henderson's possession containing physical restraints, a knife, and additional items believed to have been brought to facilitate the offenses.

Henderson was transported and booked into the Monterey County Jail on the following charges:

Henderson was booked in the Monterey County Jail on charges of 459 PC —burglary, 211 PC — Robbery, 220 PC — Assault with intent to commit rape, 646.9 PC — Stalking, 236 PC — False imprisonment, and 207(a) PC — Kidnapping. He was held without bail.
