October 14, 2026 – Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department officials announce that it is with profound sadness that they announce the passing of Sergent Mike Chea, a 19-year veteran of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Throughout his career, Sergeant Chea served at the Inmate Reception Center, Pico Rivera Sheriff's Station, and Industry Sheriff's Station. We honor his years of dedicated service and his commitment to the communities he served.

Sergeant Chea had a gift for lighting up every room he entered. His sense of humor and warm personality brought laughter and joy to those around him, leaving memories that his colleagues and friends will always cherish.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and fellow Department members during this difficult time. We stand alongside them as we mourn the loss of one of our own.

Sergeant Chea will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
