August 19, 2021 - The US Interagency Wildland Fire Air Quality Response Program Smoke Outlook for the Monument Fire for Thursday.
Fire: On the McFarland Fire, acreage was last recorded at 110,132 and is holding at 51% containment. The Monument Fire is now 132,013 acres and remains at 10% containment. Smoke from the north helped tamper down fire growth over both fires yesterday and more smoke is expected today. This will help crews continue to secure containment and contingency lines along the south ends of the fires.
Smoke: Yesterday, much of the smoke in our reporting area was from other fires to the north, and overnight, smoke from the Dixie fire kept concentrations high. We are expecting similar smoke behavior today with Unhealthy air quality expected for much of Northern California. Additional sites were added to better cover regional smoke impacts.
